Whoever coined the phrase “Getting There is Half the Fun” did not get up at o’dark thirty to take a 6:50 am shuttle, two flights, argue with the Alamo Rental Car clerk for an hour, then take two wrong turns to finally arrive at their destination 15 hours later! But the house is beautiful and now that we are here, worth every minute of travel. There is a pool and hot tub, sauna, a view of the ocean, a deck that runs the length of the house, and the sounds of crickets chirping while the adult kids enjoy the bubbling hot tub under the stars. I am exhausted. The rest of the group drove from the car rental place directly to the house, while Michael and I went to Foodland Market in Kapaa to load up on groceries. This is the way I like it, as it is so much easier for two to do the shopping than 11. Plus when we arrived at the house, everyone was at the ready to unload and put away the groceries (I can’t decide whether they are grateful or just freakin’ hungry — maybe a little of both). I am so happy to share this time with our kids and grandkids. I can’t even be sad that Amanda & Henry aren’t here, because they are busy putting the finishing touches on our newest granddaughter, who is due to arrive in approximately 17 days (but who’s counting)? My heart is bursting with joy! I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
